SBCC Scholarship Fund

The South Britain Congregational Church Scholarship Fund was established in 1979 by church members, friends and relatives to honor May and Robert Mitchell and Julia and Gordon Schielke on the occasion of their fiftieth wedding anniversaries and for their many years of service to both this church and the community. In 2001, an award was named in memory of Sean Schielke, who lost his life in the attack of the World Trade Center. In 2003, the estate of Frank Diesl established The Francis Diesl Scholarship in honor of his life-long commitment to learning and continuing education.  In 2010, the Josephine Blersch Memorial Scholarship was established in honor of the woman who dedicated much of her time and talent to the Scholarship Committee and to our church. Scholarships are presented to persons actively affiliated with the church to assist with educational costs for college, technical school or for career enhancement or career change.  Awards are based on funds available, church community involvement and the specific educational situation of each applicant.  No personal or family information is required with the application.  The 2024 Scholarship Awards will be presented in church on May 13, 2024.  Applications are due in the church office by Sunday April 7, 2024.  Applications received after the deadline cannot be considered.  Applications will be available in the church office and on this website beginning in March 3, 2024.   2024 Scholarship Application The Scholarship Committee June Bennett- Chair, Joan Kubista, Margie Nichols, Judy Pierpont
