Tropical Storm Irene, August 28th
Irene (formerly a hurricane) knocked out power to the church from Sunday, 8/28 until
Friday, 9/2- cancelling the service on 8/28. That Wednesday, Eileen finished the
following Sunday's bulletin using a portable generator and 'local lighting'. More than a
few of our parishioners were severely affected by the resultant flooding.

Early Snowstorm, October 29th & 30th
A Nor'easter brought record amounts of snow along the northeastern seaboard and
caused massive power outages. At it's height over 3/4 of a million homes in Connecticut
and 1/2 of those in Southbury were without power. Some were not expected to be
restored for more than a week. Amazingly, the church was not damaged and did not
lose power during the storm
- though services did have to be cancelled on 10/30.
